    RICHARD C. TIPTON – passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015. Born in Portland, Oregon – 1923. A 1941 graduate of Berkeley High School and resident of Benicia since 1969. A World War II US Navy veteran – 1942 TO 1946. Member of the Operating Engineers since 1958. Very active in Benicia community affairs and politics. Chairman of the Benicia Waterfront & Development Commission. Eight year member and two year Chairman of the Benicia Planning Commission. Founding member of the Benicia Historical Society. Past President of the Benicia Historical Museum Foundation. Past President of the Benicia Kiwanis Club. Founding member and Staff Commodore of the Benicia Yacht Club, A lifetime member of the Napa Valley Yacht Club, and charter member of the Glen Cove and Meeks Bay Yacht Clubs. Active in the promotion of recreational boating since 1977. Staff Commodore of the Pacific Inter-Club Yachting Association, and twelve years Director and Past President of Recreational Boaters of California.

    Richard C. Tipton was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Veronica V. Tipton who was also well known in Benicia activities. He is survived by two daughters, Roberta A. Tipton of Los Angeles, CA, and Beth Burstein, grandson Jack Burstein, and son-in-law Mark Burstein, all of Benicia, CA.

    Private interment alongside his wife, mother, father, and grandmother at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito, CA.

    A memorial luncheon will be announced at a later date.

    In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the North Bay Hospice.
